The SAME Lake Michigan Post held its annual Yellow Ribbon Picnic on September 20, 2018!
STEM students had the opportunity to present their experiences at camp.
Tom Heinhold, Chief of Operations Division for Rock Island District of the US Army Corps of Engineers (USACE), also presented on his military engineering experiences.

Society of American Military Engineers Annual Yellow Ribbon Picnic – September 20, 2018 – Naval Station Great Lakes Nunn Beach House
Join the Lake Michigan Post for its Annual Yellow Ribbon Picnic! We will be collecting school supplies for North Chicago Community Partners. Admission to the picnic is free with your donation of supplies or $20 to give in support.
The event speaker will be Tom Heinhold, Chief of Operations Division for Rock Island District of the US Army Corps of Engineers (USACE).
Tom will give us a taste of the engineering challenges he faced while deployed to several military contingency environments across the globe, during flood emergencies across the nation, and ultimately in operating and maintaining large navigation and flood control projects in the Mississippi River Valley.
We will also have the STEM camp students and our sponsored mentor speaking.

2018 Society of American Military Engineers Chicago Post Boat Cruise Fundraiser – June 26, 2018
SAME’s Chicago and Lake Michigan Posts invite you to attend our 12th Annual Boat Cruise Fundraiser. This two-hour cruise is an enjoyable way to spend a summer evening with fellow SAME members, guests and friends, and has become a highlight of our summer programs!
The event will raise funds to support the Post’s STEM and Student Chapter activities, College and Engineering Camp Scholarships, and similar activities in line with its stated mission. Since our first Cruise in 2007, we have supported a diverse group of worthy organizations, including the Friends of Fisher House Illinois, as a founding member of that organization.
SAME Chicago intends to continue to use the event as an opportunity to support and promote local veteran organizations.
